I am always learning something new, usually it’s because I’ve picked up a new project like building a gas analyzer for scuba diving (post on this coming soon), other times its natural curiosity. This time my learning was focused on earning a specific certification.
I recently undertook the ISC2 Certified in Cyber Security Certification (CC) exam.
This certification is a relatively new offering from ISC2, having only been launched in August 2022.
You might have seen, or heard about CVE’s before, this post will provide a brief overview of what they are, how they get assigned, why they are important and what purpose they serve.
CVE otherwise known as Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures are publicly disclosed vulnerabilities that have been assigned with a unique identifier.
So what does that actually mean? First we need to understand what a vulnerability is.
When there is a weakness or flaw in software, or computer systems, that could be exploited by an adversary or attacker to compromise a system, it is known as a vulnerability.
I decided going into 2023, that it was time I rebuilt whoishou.com into something closer to what I had originally envisioned when I first created my website in 2018.
I wanted a website that:
Requires minimal ongoing maintenance Is secure Is easy to publish new content for Is responsive and mobile friendly What I’d built didn’t require much maintenance, was relatively secure (more on this shortly) but the accessibility and responsiveness wasn’t where I wanted them to be.
In November, I was travelling back home to Melbourne to see my family. I took the opportunity during the holiday to get certified with Ocean Divers as a PADI Rescue Diver. Having already completed my Open and Advanced Open Water certifications, it was the next step for further progression as a Recreational Diver.
It was an experience that I will never forget. It was both challenging and rewarding, and it has changed the way I approach diving.
You might have heard about ChatGPT making the rounds on social media, I’ve been telling some of my colleagues about it and their first question is always, what is it?
I figured it would be a good topic for a blog post, but rather than write a blog post about it, I figured I could just tell ChatGPT to write a blog post about itself, and it made excellent work of it.
Recently, I completed my PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water certifications, it was an incredible experience. I have been wanting to learn how to scuba dive for a long time and finally, I made it happen.
The Open Water certification involved learning the basics of scuba diving, including how to use the equipment, dive planning, and basic dive skills. One of the challenging aspects of the course was learning how to clear water out of my mask and regulator while underwater.
